Critical assessment of developmental status with attention to subject, purpose, form and genre; target audience and project potential; effective and ineffective elements; initial concerns, questions and suggestions. No copyediting or formatting provided.

Light Copyediting

 

Check of grammar, spelling and punctuation in manuscripts that are nearly production-ready. Ensures consistency of mechanics and adherence to submission and formatting guidelines. Corrections to headings and placement of tables, charts, figures and captions. No treatment of content or style.

Regular Copyediting

 

Light copyediting plus attention to content and style. Considers word usage, logic and clarity at the sentence and paragraph levels in relation to target audience. Corrections to content within tables, charts, figures and captions.

Structural Editing

 

Significant revision and/or reorganization to improve clarity of content and structure. Emphasis on focus, flow, consistency and integrity of ideas. Intensive style work to address tone, cohesion and effectiveness.

Developmental Editing

 

Assistance in conceptualizing and actualizing multistage projects. Facilitated brainstorming, outlining/storyboarding, structural editing and dialogue to develop and strengthen projects or effect large rewrites.

Proofreading

 

Review of edited manuscripts and layouts prior to submission or publication. Correction of irregularities in text and formatting; verification of adherence to submission guidelines. Edited manuscript with identified style required.

Conferencing

 

Consultation in person or by phone or video chat on prospective, in-process or completed editing. Initial 30-minute consultations are complimentary.

APA, MLA, GSA, GPO and Chicago styles accepted.
